Vocab-recommender

Nominees

Vocab-recommender is a tool that contributes to the broader idea of enabling websites to play the role of APIs by leveraging the Web content to self-defined data structures via semantic annotations that can be consumed by machines and Web agents. Cornerstone requirement for this to happen is the discovery and incorporation of the correct vocabulary terms in a website. Vocab-recommender aims to facilitate the discovery of Linked Open Vocabulary terms for a given Web page by leveraging the existing dynamics within the LOV graph and the LOD cloud.

The presented tool has been implemented as a Web service. The provided endpoints provide a good starting point for the discovery and exploration of the vocabulary space. Furthermore, it aims to play an educational role in addition to the practical engineering assistance as developers and engineers using the framework could gain insights about the semantic annotations topic through the ranking of the vocabulary terms, the parts that are extracted for annotation and the various vocabularies included in the result set.

A timeline of the progress related to the project is available under http://istavrak.com/vocab-recommender. A short video, explaining the idea behind it, has been uploaded online under https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC6nZJ7B7iI.
