Valentina Janev is a Senior Researcher at the Mihajlo Pupin Institute. She graduated in Electrical Engineering and received her Master degree in Computer Science from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. She received the PhD degree in the field of Semantic Web technologies from the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Since 1996 she has participated in design, development and implementation of many business information systems first as a Software Engineer and later as a Consultant. She is actively involved in scientific projects financed by the Serbian Ministry of Science, as well in EU FP6 and FP7 projects including Web4WeB - Web technologies for West Balkan countries, EMILI - Emergency Management in Large Infrastructures and LOD2 - Creating Knowledge out of Interlinked Data. She published a book and around 50 papers as journal, book, conference, and workshop contributions in these fields. She serves as a reviewer of respectable international journals including Journal of Digital Earth and Information Systems Management.
